Cameroon – Christian Din Dika: A 2025 Award for Leadership and Economic Excellence

Christian Din Dika, CEO of Emrald Securities Services (ESS), received the 2025 Leadership and Economic Excellence Award. It was presented by the Pan-African and Economic Journalists’ Association, whose pan-African jury was chaired by Congolese journalist Alfredo Ntumba. Active in eleven African countries, the association says the award reflects the growing importance of financing, economic governance and sustainability in discussions about Africa’s development.

Phone Traders Urge FG and NCC to Suspend Registration Fees for 90 Days

The Association of Mobile Phones and Allied Products Traders of Nigeria (AMPATN) has urged the Federal Government and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to suspend phone registration fees and blocking measures for 90 days. AMPATN supports phone registration but wants the legal basis and a transparent fee schedule published, with consultations and an appeal process for mistakenly blocked devices. The association says it has petitioned the NCC, the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Kano State Government.

Resident Representative Blerta Cela said investors fund well-structured projects rather than needs alone, urging municipal and regional councils to build strong project portfolios. UNDP offers support with setting priorities, preparing proposals and finding partners, including for waste management, markets and solar lighting projects. The assistance is part of a 2026–2030 cooperation programme worth nearly $100 million, and the fair also saw the launch of SIKA Local, focused on local investment and the green transition.
