NUJ Osun condemns arrest of secretary, demands public apology from police

The Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) condemned the arrest and detention of its Secretary Olalekan Akindoju by the Nigeria Police Force, calling the action disturbing and unacceptable. Akindoju, also Head of News at Rave 91.7FM/WSTV, was arrested early Thursday and released after interventions by stakeholders including Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan. The NUJ demands an unreserved public apology from the police for the embarrassment and reputational damage. The council calls for thorough investigations before any actions that infringe on journalists' rights.
