'He's an absentee president of the TUC': Ajaero accuses Osifo

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero accused Trade Union Congress (TUC) President Festus Osifo on Monday of being an absentee leader who lives in the United States and returns to Nigeria only for union meetings. Speaking on Channels Television, Ajaero said Osifo could not understand workers’ hardships, including fuel costing more than 1,000 naira per litre, rent, school fees and food expenses. He accused Osifo of abandoning workers and said the NLC, with more than 60 affiliated unions and millions of members, could not wait for his approval before negotiating better wages and a 70,000-naira transport allowance.
