Lualaba: Seven Chinese Nationals Deported After Illicit Mineral Purchase Allegations

Seven Chinese nationals were deported from Kolwezi after being detained in mining concessions in Lualaba, including those of Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) and Metalkol. The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) suspects them of illicitly purchasing minerals from artisanal miners on sites allocated to private partners, including the United Arab Emirates. Following their arrest, they were taken to Kolwezi airport for deportation back to their home country as part of increased surveillance efforts in the mining region.
