Northwest: Four Suspected Separatist Fighters Killed in Ambush

Four suspected members of the Ambazonia Defence Forces (ADF) were reportedly killed in an ambush by Cameroonian security forces in the Tobin area of Kumbo as they travelled toward Oku. Gunfire allegedly broke out after a joint patrol of soldiers and public security officers intercepted their convoy at around 10:30 p.m. The dead reportedly included a commander nicknamed “Lion” and, according to other sources, Clovis Berinyuh, known as “Small”; two firearms were recovered at the scene. The deaths come amid continued violence in Bui division, where two other suspected separatist fighters were killed on October 25 in Babessi and Baba I.

Murder of Franck Ngyke and his wife: 21 years later, ACOFEPE and La Référence Plus call for investigations to be reopened

Twenty-one years after journalist Franck Ngyke Kangundu and his wife, Hélène Mpaka, were murdered, ACOFEPE and the La Référence Plus press group are calling for the investigation to be reopened. The organizations want any potential masterminds identified and prosecuted, and leads raised by national and international investigations examined through an independent, impartial process free from political interference.

DR Congo: Moïse Katumbi’s defense denounces irregularities in proceedings before the Court of Cassation

Moïse Katumbi’s lawyer, Seignior Mazaba wa Bobaka, is challenging the legality of proceedings before the Court of Cassation following a 26 October hearing in cases RP 025/CR and RP 026/CR. He alleges irregularities in the summonses, a failure to verify Katumbi’s address, and that the cases were taken under deliberation without allowing the defense to make submissions. Citing an officially recorded change of residence to Brussels and Article 82 of a 2013 organic law, he says the proceedings could deny Katumbi a right to appeal and has formally requested that the hearings be reopened. The case pits Katumbi against his half-brother Raphaël Katebe Katoto, who has accused him since 2024 of taking property in Haut-Katanga; the court and prosecutors have not commented on the defense’s allegations.
