Osun lawmakers seek redeployment of CP over election tensions

Lawmakers from Osun State have called for the immediate redeployment of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, alleging partisanship and failure to provide adequate security ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election. Speaker Adewale Egbedun said legislators lost confidence and urged IGP Olatunji Disu to replace him. They also demanded arrest of individuals linked to attacks on Accord members and accused the APC of planning violence. The lawmakers cited intelligence on possible state of emergency declaration and called on President Tinubu to ensure neutrality of security agencies.
