Kwankwasiyya questions proposed N55bn loan for Kano LGAs

The Kwankwasiyya Movement is asking the Kano State Government to explain a reported N55 billion loan that the state’s 44 local government councils may be required to take on. The movement wants details on the projects, beneficiaries and repayment, as well as safeguards for the use of the funds; it said it was not alleging that the loan was intended to finance the next elections.

In a statement issued Sunday by media director Kola Ologbondiyan, the council faulted Kwankwaso for not directing more criticism at the ruling APC. It said Nigerians are chiefly concerned about hunger, insecurity, rising fuel prices, the falling naira and the cost of living. The ADC-PCC said it would remain united and focused on the 2027 general election, offering an alternative to the Tinubu administration.
