Lazola Maku aims to make family proud after sealing Mamelodi Sundowns transfer

Nineteen-year-old midfielder Lazola Maku has joined Mamelodi Sundowns on a long-term deal after spending months without a club following his departure from Siwelele. The Amajita captain helped South Africa win the most recent U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and the U20 Cosafa Championship in Mozambique, and also led the team at the World Cup in Chile. Maku said he wants to make his mother and grandmother proud, crediting them with raising him and teaching him not to give up. Developed at the SuperSport United academy, he had also hoped to move abroad before Sundowns secured his signing.
