Osubi Airport refutes bird strike allegation, cites two-year safety record

Osubi Airstrip manager Winston Egwuatu strongly refuted allegations of a bird strike involving an Air Peace aircraft, stating the airport had celebrated nearly two years without such incidents. Inspections found no bird carcass or evidence of bird activity on the runway. The pilot reported hearing a sound about 200 meters from the airport but had not informed air traffic control. Air Peace had earlier announced that its Lagos–Osubi flight experienced a bird strike upon landing, leading to cancellation of the return flight.
