On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Nigerian Navy announced it had thwarted an attempted crude oil theft targeting critical infrastructure in Bonny, Rivers State. During a patrol near the Renaissance African Energy Company Limited Oloma Flow Station, personnel of Forward Operating Base Bonny intercepted a suspicious fiber boat. The occupants fled, abandoning vandalism equipment (generator, grinding machine, chisels, etc.). One suspect was arrested in follow-up operations with other security agencies.
