Rubio calls on Cubans to partner with the CIA ‘to create positive change’

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Cubans seeking political change to form a discreet partnership with the CIA to help end the island’s communist government. In a post on X on Friday, he cited broken promises, corruption and the privileges enjoyed by a few, saying the time to act had come. Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio mocked the appeal as desperate, public recruitment for the CIA. The comments come as Donald Trump and other senior US officials have in recent months raised the possibility of military intervention and a permanent US presence in Cuba.
