Cosmetics in Ivory Coast: 2,639 Products Deemed Risky, Skin Lighteners in the Lead

The Ivorian Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority (AIRP) conducted a national campaign from October 2024 to March 2025, surveying 11,849 cosmetic references in 1,140 establishments. Of these, 2,639 products pose a high health risk, with skin lighteners accounting for 75% of risky items, and 64% of those are locally produced. The AIRP plans notifications, capacity building, and joint operations with security forces and customs.
