Nigeria not 100% ready, but can contain Ebola — NCDC

The Director-General of NCDC, Dr. Jide Idris, admitted that Nigeria is not fully prepared for a possible Ebola outbreak but stated the country can contain the virus with current systems. The risk of importation is classified as high due to international travel and porous borders. Surveillance has been intensified at the five international airports and border entry points, with screening for passengers from affected areas. Idris also highlighted challenges including health worker shortage and limited laboratory capacity.
