Cameroon - Oswald Baboke: The Network Protecting Biya’s Favorite

Oswald Baboke, a 54-year-old evangelical pastor and deputy director of Cameroon’s civil cabinet at the presidency, is among the favorites for the vice-presidency, vacant since the April 2026 constitutional revision. He relies on a family, political and spiritual network and is reportedly protected by Chantal Biya. Paul Biya has ordered two investigations involving Baboke: one into a fake decree announcing his appointment as vice-president, and another into alleged gold trafficking.
