Tobacco: Nigeria spends N634 billion annually in curing smoking-related diseases - ACPN

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) declared that Nigeria spends about N634 billion annually on treating smoking-related diseases. ACPN National Chairman, Ambrose Ezeh, made this revelation on Wednesday during the 2026 World No Tobacco Day. Tobacco-related illnesses account for 26,000 to 28,000 deaths each year in Nigeria. Ezeh urged the federal government to formulate policies to eliminate nicotine from tobacco products.
