With over 40,000 students, the University of Lagos faces a shortage of accommodation, with only 8,000 bed spaces available. The federal government has launched a collaborative program involving the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Ministry of Education, and private developers to construct student housing, with a budget of 250 billion naira for 2026. Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa announced that Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects will be implemented in several institutions, including Lagos State University and Yaba College of Technology.
