FCT police begins enforcement of ban on tinted glass

The FCT Police Command has commenced enforcement of the ban on tinted glass vehicles, covered number plates, and unregistered vehicles, as announced by Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, June 5, 2026. Intelligence reports revealed that criminals use such vehicles to conceal identities and evade law enforcement. Over 30 vehicles have been impounded, and their owners will be charged under federal laws and the FCT Road Transport Regulations 2023. The operation aims to deny criminals cover without inconveniencing law-abiding citizens with legitimate tint approvals.
