Walikale: Clashes resume between the army and the FRN in Luola and on strategic Tchad Hill

Clashes resumed on Tuesday, October 27, in Luola and on Tchad Hill, in Banakindi locality in the Kisimba grouping of Walikale territory, North Kivu. Sources cited by ACTUALITE.CD said fighters from the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN) attacked positions held by the FARDC and wazalendo. Tchad Hill overlooks Mindjendje, Luola and Mpety, and the renewed fighting has raised fears of worsening security in the area; heavy-weapon detonations were also heard in Pinga. The offensive came 48 hours after the FRN lost its position at Rushihe, in Katobo.
