In Tsévié, a regional fair seeks to open up markets for artisans

The first crafts fair in the Maritime region opened in Tsévié and runs through October 31, 2026, bringing together artisans from all eight prefectures. Organized by FELEADEC with support from the FAO, it showcases basketry, pottery and traditional soap-making after several months of training for 125 artisans. Part of the R4C-Togo project on coastal community resilience to climate change, the fair aims to strengthen women’s cooperatives and create market opportunities, though its commercial impact remains to be assessed. In 2024, crafts accounted for 18% of Togo’s GDP and involved nearly one million people.
