DCI Arrests Five Following Suspected Premeditated Murders in Tharaka Nithi

On May 21, 2026, an armed gang stormed a homestead in Tonto Village, Tharaka Nithi County, killing a man and an elderly woman and seriously injuring two others. Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) arrested five suspects between June 4 and 8 during coordinated operations. The DCI is pursuing additional individuals believed to be involved.

More than a dozen suspects emerged from a minibus and swept through a disadvantaged neighborhood of Johannesburg, shooting at residents during a nighttime attack, killing at least 12 and wounding 9.
