Human Rights Watch denounces the conviction of eight human rights defenders in Tunisia, viewing it as increasing repression against civil society. Among the convicted are Sihem Bensedrine, former president of the Truth and Dignity Commission, sentenced to 25 years in prison, and Saadia Mosbah, president of the anti-racist association Mnemty, whose eight-year sentence was upheld on appeal. Five other association members received sentences ranging from one to three years. The organization calls on authorities to annul these convictions and release the detainees.
