Thugs Disrupt APC Senatorial Primary in Zamfara

Suspected political thugs attacked two polling centres during the APC senatorial primary on Monday in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, sending voters fleeing. A physical confrontation among some of the suspected attackers left one person seriously injured, while INEC officials had not arrived by 11:30 a.m. The primary pits incumbent Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, backed by Bello Matawalle’s camp, against Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, supported by Abdul’aziz Yari’s camp. Local government chairman Mannir Muhammad Haidara escaped an attempted lynching after attackers targeted his vehicle outside Namoda Model Primary School.

Mutfwang defended Tinubu’s economic reforms and listed state measures to ease their impact, including metro buses, revival of intra-city rail, a 50% cut in tertiary fees and increased student allowances. He also announced that at least 800 trained forest guards would be deployed within four weeks and that Operation Rainbow would be strengthened to improve security and help displaced people return home.
