2027: No Rainbow Coalition, Plateau Is Going APC, Says Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang rejected the idea of a rainbow coalition for the 2027 elections, saying residents had chosen the APC. At the inauguration of the state’s presidential and state campaign councils, he said there was no vacancy in Aso Rock or the Plateau Government House and expressed confidence that he and President Bola Tinubu would be re-elected. Mutfwang defended Tinubu’s economic reforms and listed state measures to ease their impact, including metro buses, revival of intra-city rail, a 50% cut in tertiary fees and increased student allowances. He also announced that at least 800 trained forest guards would be deployed within four weeks and that Operation Rainbow would be strengthened to improve security and help displaced people return home.
