ANAFEC urges CENI to organize election of Haut-Katanga governor

The National Alliance of Kyunguist Federalists (ANAFEC) is asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to organize the election of the governor and vice-governor in Haut-Katanga province. This request follows the resignation of Governor Jacques Kyabula on May 21, 2026. ANAFEC President Lolo Kyungu argues that a ten-month interim period limits the provincial executive's actions and causes harmful consequences. He insists on the need to legitimize provincial institutions after a long transition period.
