Al Jazeera Balkans relaunches in a new digital-first format

Al Jazeera Balkans officially returned on November 1, 2026, with a digital-first platform, following the closure of its television channel in 2025. Jamal Elshayyal, Al Jazeera’s director of digital news content and languages, said the relaunch reaffirmed the network’s commitment to giving greater attention to the region’s stories and voices.

The Congolese president said Rwanda uses the FDLR issue to justify its presence on Congolese territory.
