Ukraine's air force claimed on July 8, 2026, to have shot down a Russian Su-35 fighter on the eastern front, without providing visual evidence or independent confirmation. Moscow has not officially reacted. If confirmed, this would be the ninth Su-35 lost since February 2022, out of an initial fleet of about 100. Separately, Ukraine lost three MiG-29s on June 27, while Ukrainian drones damaged seven Russian aircraft at the Saky base in Crimea.
