NDDC denies bridge collapse report in Bayelsa

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) denied social media reports that the Otuogori-Otuegwe Bridge under construction in Bayelsa State had collapsed. Godknows Alamieyeseigha, director of the commission’s Bayelsa office, said an incident occurred while beams were being positioned, before construction of the 600-metre bridge itself had begun. Construction firm managing director Christian Emiezor said an unsecured beam slid during the work and that no one was injured. The NDDC said it was assessing the circumstances and expected the company to address any issues and complete the project.
