UMOA-Titres: CFAF 137.5 billion raised as investor appetite boosts Abidjan and Bamako

Côte d’Ivoire and Mali raised a combined CFAF 137.5 billion in auctions held on October 27 and 28, 2026, against total bids of CFAF 225.88 billion, a coverage rate of 180.70%. Côte d’Ivoire’s Treasury accepted CFAF 93.5 billion from CFAF 151.152 billion in bids, at yields of 6.37% for three-year bonds, 7.04% for five-year bonds and 7.11% for seven-year bonds. Mali raised CFAF 44 billion, including CFAF 36.5 billion in three-year bonds yielding 7.67%, 130 basis points above Côte d’Ivoire’s rate for the same maturity. The decline in Côte d’Ivoire’s seven-year yield from the October 20 auction suggests stronger investor appetite for longer maturities.

Public debt has been reassessed at nearly 130% of GDP, while Moody’s downgraded Senegal’s sovereign rating to Caa2 after an earlier $1.8 billion IMF program was frozen. The new agreement reached with IMF staff on September 1, 2026, still requires approval by the Fund’s executive board.
