DCI Confirms Arrest of Erick Omondi at JKIA Over Fuel Protest Activities

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrest of comedian and activist Erick Omondi on June 5, 2026, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). According to the DCI, credible intelligence linked him to offenses committed under the guise of protests against increased fuel prices. He was apprehended by detectives from DCI Central and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) Nairobi Region, and is currently being processed for arraignment at the Nairobi Region DCI Headquarters.
