Stop Producing Job Seekers: Train Students in Entrepreneurship, Prof. Okonkwo Urges Universities

At Veritas University’s 15th convocation ceremony in Abuja, Professor Obiora Okonkwo urged Nigerian universities to integrate entrepreneurship and practical skills into every field of study. He said students in medicine, law, engineering and the sciences should learn how to establish businesses and assess the commercial potential of their research. Okonkwo called for graduates to be prepared for self-employment and to create jobs rather than rely solely on paid work, and urged stronger university-industry partnerships, including through internships.
