Ex-Edo deputy gov begs court to suspend ruling

Mr. Godwins Omobayo, former deputy governor of Edo, urged the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday to suspend its ruling on a contempt charge against him. He is accused of refusing to vacate his position after a court judgment on July 17, 2024, reinstated Mr. Philip Shaibu, who was unlawfully impeached. Omobayo's lawyer requested additional time for the parties to reach an out-of-court settlement.
