Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) condemned a ban preventing female Muslim students from wearing the hijab at Nigerian law schools. Its executive director, Professor Isiaq Akintola, said candidates sitting final call-to-bar examinations were intimidated and barred from examination halls; some reportedly waited outside for about an hour and were allowed in only after removing their hijabs. MURIC called the incident a disruption of the students’ lawful education and urged authorities to suspend all law school examinations pending an investigation.
