Senate Press Corps targets budget padding, holds workshop on oversight, AI

The Senate Press Corps (SPC) will hold a capacity-building workshop on September 28, 2026, at the National Assembly, focusing on how lawmakers and media collaboration can prevent unlawful insertions in the national budget. SPC Chairman Taiye Odewale emphasized the role of oversight, responsible journalism, and accountability, with presentations from Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu and other stakeholders. The event will also feature intensive training on Artificial Intelligence tools facilitated by London-based instructors from Mass Media TX Limited to expose journalists to emerging technologies. The participation of key parliamentary leaders aims to enhance transparency and improve the synergy between the legislature and the media in budget processes.
