Robert Kabera, a 50-year-old former Rwandan sergeant major and critic of President Paul Kagame, was found beheaded on October 17, 2026, in Kamengo, Mpigi district, near Kampala. Ugandan police confirmed the killing on October 19; his head had not been found, and authorities had named no suspect or motive. Kabera fled Rwanda in November 2020, saying he feared for his life, and later built a YouTube following of more than 144,000 subscribers. The opposition-in-exile Rwandan National Congress said he had left Rwanda because he feared for his safety.
