Real Estate in Senegal: Important New Clarifications from the Supreme Court on Land

The Supreme Court of Senegal has launched a major reflection initiative called 'Dialogue des juges' to harmonize the interpretation of land law amid a rise in land disputes. The meeting brings together judges, lawyers, notaries, academics and administration representatives. The First President of the Supreme Court, Mouhamadou Mansour MBAYE, emphasized the need for harmonization of judicial decisions. Land litigation is exacerbated by the coexistence of positive law and customary practices.
