Two people were detected alive beneath the debris of an 18-storey building that collapsed on October 25 in Eastleigh, Nairobi. Chinese specialists located them on Tuesday, October 27, using life-detection equipment, but rescuers had not reached them by Wednesday evening, with about 85 percent of the rubble cleared. At least 16 people remain missing, while six others have already been recovered. Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations is questioning several people to establish what caused the collapse.
