U.S Meat Exporters Demand Trump Govt's Intervention Over Kenya's 'Harsh' Business Rules

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) on June 10, 2026, called on the Trump administration to press Kenya to remove trade barriers it deems harsh. In a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative, USMEF cited Kenya's import licensing system, restrictions on transhipment, and lack of clarity on veterinary standards. The federation also criticized the requirement for a Letter of Non-Compete for U.S. pork and prohibitive import duties on beef and pork. It urged using ongoing AGOA talks to address market access concerns.
