NCC warns device dealers and threatens network restrictions

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has told manufacturers, importers, distributors and dealers of SIM-enabled devices to meet its type-approval and verification rules or risk having non-compliant devices blocked from Nigerian mobile networks. Each device model must receive the required approval, and suppliers must submit device IMEI details for verification before sale or distribution. The automated process, implemented with the Nigeria Customs Service, is intended to strengthen import oversight and support fair competition. The NCC urged businesses needing help to use its approved onboarding and support channels.
