Akwa Ibom: Police arrest suspect with 36 stolen phones

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command re-arrested Musa Idris, a suspected receiver and distributor of stolen mobile phones, recovering 36 devices (34 Android and 2 button phones) along the Calabar–Itu Road. Commissioner Baba Azare stated that Idris had previously been arrested in October 2025 for armed robbery and possession of over 200 suspected stolen phones. Investigations indicate the phones are proceeds from armed robbery by criminal groups within and outside Akwa Ibom, and a wider network trafficking stolen phones beyond Nigeria's borders is being pursued.
