Kogi School Attack: Police intensify manhunt for fleeing bandits

On June 10, 2026, armed bandits attacked Government Secondary School, Iluke Bunu, during the WAEC English exam. Police, with military and vigilante support, engaged them in a gunfight, forcing the attackers to flee. Three people were killed: Vice Principal Ganiyu Anifowose, 70-year-old Sunday Jacob Alhassan, and 6-year-old Sunday Ayele. One bandit was neutralized and a security personnel injured. A manhunt is ongoing.
