South Africa: How to Use the Anti-HIV Jab and Where To Find It

The six-monthly anti-HIV jab Lenacapavir, which prevents HIV through sex, is now available for free at 360 government clinics in six South African provinces: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, North West, and Western Cape. South Africa has received two deliveries of the branded version from Gilead Sciences, totaling 57,720 doses, paid for by the Global Fund. A third delivery of 57,600 doses is expected on June 15. The Northern Cape, Limpopo, and Free State will receive the jab next year when cheaper generic versions become available.
