Benin: Review of the new seizure of ammunition in Bétérou – La Nouvelle Tribune

On the night of July 13-14, 2026, the Republican Police intercepted 500 hunting cartridges in Bétérou, Borgou department. A man in his thirties was arrested while clandestinely transporting the ammunition in a Toyota Corolla. The operation is part of the fourth cycle of special territorial security operations. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and destination of the ammunition, as well as possible ramifications. Less than a month earlier, on June 20, 2026, customs officers had already seized 3,000 hunting cartridges in the same locality.
