Community Nutrition: State Mobilizes Prefects and Elected Officials to Sustain 2,300 Development Centers

The National Council for Food and Nutrition (CONANUT) brought together regional prefects, regional council presidents, and sectoral ministries on July 2, 2026, to redefine the framework of the Centers for Strengthening Community Nutrition and Early Childhood Development Activities (FRANC-DPE). Only 30% of the 2,365 existing centers are still operational due to non-sustainable project-based funding. The goal is to deploy 6,000 structures nationwide to eradicate malnutrition, relying on 400 model centers and promoting convergence across sectors (water, agriculture, education).
