Consultations for East African Community’s Political Confederation being revived in Rwanda

The East African Community (EAC) is reviving national consultations in Rwanda for drafting the Constitution of the Political Confederation. The consultations start in Kigali on June 15, 2026, and continue in Rubavu, Huye, and Nyagatare until June 27, 2026. They involve President Paul Kagame, parliamentarians, judiciary, ministries, civil society, media, and other stakeholders. The Political Confederation is the fourth stage of regional integration after the Customs Union, Common Market, and Monetary Union.
