Six people have been sentenced to life imprisonment for a jihadist attack in 2020 that resulted in the deaths of 14 soldiers at a border post in Ivory Coast. Lawyer Abdoulaye Ben Meite stated that out of 45 defendants, 17 received a 20-year prison sentence and a fine of 50 million CFA francs. The attack occurred in Kafolo, near the border with Burkina Faso and Mali, countries affected by Islamist violence.
