Mobile Telephony: MTN, Orange, and Camtel Ordered to Block 700,000 Undeclared Phones

The Director General of Customs, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga, has ordered MTN Cameroon, Orange Cameroon, and Camtel to block undeclared phones connected to the local network starting May 25, 2026. This measure follows a warning from Finance Minister Louis Paul Motazé regarding 700,000 phones that connected without customs clearance. The goal is to generate 25 billion FCFA in annual customs revenue.
