Defense: Abidjan aims to remove barriers to women's participation in UN peace missions

Minister of Women, Family and Children Nassénéba Touré launched the MOWIP (Measuring Opportunities for Women in Peace Operations) assessment report for the Ivorian Armed Forces (FACI) on June 11, 2026 in Abidjan. The report, jointly produced by UN Women Côte d'Ivoire, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, identifies barriers to the participation of Ivorian female soldiers in UN peacekeeping missions. Touré emphasized that it provides a comprehensive and evidence-based diagnosis to guide future reforms. Chief of Staff General Lassina Doumbia noted that diversity improves understanding of local environments and troop cohesion.
