ADC crisis: Aregbesola appeals court judgment

Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has appealed the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the emergence of the party’s David Mark-led leadership. Aregbesola asks the Court of Appeal to set aside the November 5 judgment or, if it upholds the lower court’s jurisdiction, send the affected claims back for a hearing before another judge. He has also sought a stay of execution of Orders 7 and 8 while his appeal is pending.

He pledged to act quickly to rehabilitate the prison and improve inmates’ food and healthcare. Without regular funding, the prison has accumulated debt and relies on occasional assistance from religious groups and sociopolitical actors.
