The Federal Government, through the Nigerian High Commission in India, is addressing the cases of hundreds of Nigerians detained in various prisons across the country. As of September 1, the High Commission had visited 198 Nigerian inmates across five prisons in Maharashtra and Mumbai. Additionally, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu is negotiating another six-month amnesty for Nigerians who are in detention without trial. NiDCOM has also advised Nigerians residing irregularly in India to take advantage of the upcoming amnesty to avoid arrest.
