Ebola: epidemic in DRC and region could reach 20,000 cases

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Ebola epidemic in eastern DRC and neighboring countries could reach 10,000 to over 20,000 cases if measures are not taken to slow its spread. Analysts say the virus is following a dangerous trajectory. The Africa CDC reported about 400 confirmed cases. This scenario recalls the 2014-2016 West Africa outbreak which recorded over 28,000 cases and 10,000 deaths.
